Our expedition assembled in Mendoza. There we rented all the necessary equipment that we didn't bring ourselves and obtained the permits ($450 per person) to enter Aconcagua State Park. Three hours drive from Mendoza we spent a night in Puenta del Inca, close to the trail head. The rail road is closed since 1986. It was an impressive feat of engineering to bring trains from Mendoza to Chile.
